Oh My Gingham

Spring is here, and so is Gingham!

For those who don't know yet, Gingham is a lightweight plain-woven cotton cloth, typically checked in white and a bold color. I chose a classic black/white combo. It is really making a comeback this season with all of your favorite stores having at least one staple piece in this pattern for their collection. It's classic because you can go from day to night in season without looking out of place, plus it just screams "bring on the warm weather" and that is definitely something I can get behind.

Paired with some cute (and affordable!) espadrilles to match my Dunitz & Company jewelry, I can't wait to show this outfit off at any spring or summer event!

Story Behind the Beading: Dunitz & Company

The seeds for Dunitz & Company were planted in 1989 when founder Nancy Dunitz visited Guatemala for the first time.

While touring Guatemala, Nancy encountered countless talented artisans weaving, painting and carving. Because of political unrest, the country offered minimal tourism trade and few outlets for selling their beautiful wares. Nancy’s vision was to work with artisans fine tuning designs that would appeal to buyers in the US. She knew that this would create opportunity for many who would otherwise not have it.

During the early stages of Dunitz & Company, Nancy met two artists who introduced beading techniques to a few Mayan women. She began collaborating with these creative women, and soon a viable and sustaining business was born.

As you all know, I love women in business and Nancy has done such an incredible job of bringing women together and creating a business not only benefiting #girlpower but also ethical work environments.

Dunitz & Company is a member of the Fair Trade Federation, a Gold Certified Business member of Green America and a founding member of Fair Trade Los Angeles.
