Versailles In the Big Apple

New York City is a wonderland. It's a place for dreams to grow, and to live out fairytales. I had the honor of attending a premiere party for Season 2 of Versailles at the French Embassy, which was definitely my own fairytale. But what does one wear to their own fairytale one may ask? Well I had the same question, but I figured if I was going to live the night as a princess, I might as well dress like one. I found this gorgeous gown at a sample sale, and brought along one of my favorite designers, Anne Koplik Designs for accessories as well as Stella & Dot! I even got a spray tan to make the night even more special by ...And So It Glows! Everyone was dressed to the 9's in classic French fashion while champagne was on top, and so was the elegant band that played well into the night.

It was a night to remember, and hardly one I will ever forget.

Versailles is a television series, set during the construction of the Palace of Versailles during the reign of Louis XIV. Haunted by the trauma of the Fronde, as the nobles of his court begin to rebel against the monarchy,  King Louis XIV of France and Navarre, in a Machiavellian political move, decides to make the nobility submit by imposing a definitive move of the court from Paris to Versailles, his father's former hunting lodge. Trapped by their king's "invitation", the nobles of Paris gradually come to see the castle as a gilded prison, and soon even the most humble courtiers of the king begin to show their viciousness as the alcoves of secrets, politics, and war are maneuvered through, revealing Versailles in all its glory and brutality. Some of the show is actually filmed at the Palace, but it is quite difficult as I learned throughout the night that you can only shoot on Mondays, due to the Palace being closed to the public. It's quite a thrill of a show, and provides a really amazing story within historical context. It's a must see, and Season 1 is showing on Netflix now! (Season 2 is on Ovation!)

...And So It Glows

I am guilty of many things...but one of the things that make me feel the most guilty is tanning. I personally feel my best when I have a sun kissed glow, like many young women I know. But, I tried to ignore the fact about tanning that I was putting my body at insurmountable risk. In comes my savior, Marla. You know those people who literally light up a room? That's her. Within an instant you go from strangers, to friends as we chat about life, businesses, and making the world a better place. With a background in healthcare and a passion for health and wellness, her vision is to educate her clients on the importance of quality products, how best to protect their skin and the safest way to get a "tan."  It is her personal commitment to leverage her company to support local Melanoma awareness efforts.  Melanoma has affected too many people who are near and dear to my heart, Marla's and so many people we all know and love.  She started ...And So It Glows from the ground up as a mobile service (she comes totally prepared, with everything *which is all organic*, right to you and never leaves a trace except your gorgeous glow) as a way to marry her ideals of education, health and wellness and her undeniable strength, witness, and overall girl boss attitude. Give her a call, your skin, soul, (and photographs) will thank you.

STUDENTS: Spray tans are only $25! Give her a call and tell her what school you attend!
