Best Rooftop Bars in Charleston
Rooftop bars and restaurants are very popular in Charleston and for good reason! There are so many options, sometimes it is hard to choose, from Espresso Martini flights, to raw bar selections — there is a rooftop for everyone. I’m excited to share my favorites in town!
Citrus Club serves high end curated food and cocktails with the best view in the city (in my humble opinion!) You don’t have to be a guest at The Dewberry Hotel to access the rooftop, but you will need to check in with the concierge by the elevator to receive a temporary keycard. You are able to get a wonderful 360-degree of town and their sunsets are unmatched. Citrus Club is my personal favorite in town, and is perfect to take guests. Definitely order their coconut margarita and burger!
The Vendue Hotel is an artsy hotel right by Waterfront Park and it has a two-tiered rooftop with both levels encompassing different covered and uncovered levels. It is a great spot on East Bay where you can order food and drinks! My favorite is their seasonal peach mule!
One of the only rooftops in town to not be connected to a hotel, Ritual transforms from a restaurant and lounge during the day to bar and nightclub at night. Their food is latin inspired, and they have your classic cocktails as well as more exotic choices… don’t forget to order their Espresso Martini Flight!
This rooftop is more of a bar than a destination. What you won’t get in views, you will get in fantastic drinks and a fun atmosphere! With leather sofas, the inside feels like more of an urban whiskey bar where they usually have great live music, but you can step outside onto the roof garden that gives a more relaxed vibe.
Élevé Rooftop Restaurant & Lounge
Grand Bohemian Hotel’s rooftop restaurant & lounge, Élevé is a great spot on Meeting St that serves coastal cuisine with raw bar selections. Perfect for dinner, or just a relaxing drink (my favorite is the Bohemian Sunset!)
More of a garden than a true “rooftop”, The Backyard at The Ryder Hotel offers good vibes and bright flavors. Enjoy craft cocktails at the island-inspired bar or cozy up next to one of the fireside lounges.
Set above Stars Grill, you can stop by the recently renovated Satellite Bar. With views of upper King Street, it is a great spot to watch the sunset. With a variety of local craft beers, wine, and specialty cocktails (my favorite is their seasonal frosé!) you’ll be sure to find a great drink to start off your night.
I recently went to The Watch for the first time in awhile, and I forgot how much I loved it. They always have a new menu of cocktails, all of which are refreshing especially for those hot Charleston days. My favorite was their season mojito, and their truffle fries!
Is there a favorite I missed? Let me know! Happy rooftoping!
