Fall Getaway: Hawley, PA

Fall getaways are my favorite, especially when we are talking about going to the mountains. Last year, John and I went to the most amazing little town in the Poconos (a hidden gem I must say) for a long weekend where it felt like time had stopped.

Filled with beautiful nature, amazing food and only 3 hours from Philadelphia, I highly recommend taking a visit to Hawley, PA this fall!

Where we stayed: Ledges Hotel

Ledges Hotel

I will say this until the day I die - Ledges is my favorite hotel I have ever stayed in. First, the grounds are gorgeous. It is literally on a cliff next to a waterfall. Everywhere you turn there is something new to explore. Second, the rooms are so spacious I felt like we were just in our own little world. You absolutely must stay here!

Where we ate:

The Settler’s Inn

Cocoon Coffee House: Best coffee, tea, and pastries hands down! A very relaxed and cozy vibe, and its right up the road from Ledges!

The Settlers Inn: We went here for brunch and let me tell you… I would put this place against the best restaurants in Philly. Yes, it is that good. It is definitely on a more upscale vibe while still staying very warm and inviting. There isn’t a dress code but pack a cute outfit to pull out!

Glass – wine. bar. kitchen: I am not normally someone who eats at the hotel restaurant. I’d rather go out and explore. But if I could eat dinner at this place every night, I would. You get the most amazing view of the waterfall and they have a sophisticated menu and an extensive drink list. They also tend to have live music, check their calender!

Wallenpaupack Brewing Co.: After a day of nature walking, we needed a beer (or two) and this place was the classic brewery I know and love. GREAT beer (almost impossible to find back in Philly so take a growler for back home!) and their food was very filling.

What we did:

Wallenpaupack Lake Trail

Penny Lane Candies & Candles: There isn’t a normal “shopping” area in Hawley, but there are a ton of cute little antique and speciality shops. John and I love candy shops where you can find super weird and different candy. This place was adorable and we got a few goodies to bring home!

Three Hammers Winery: I love a good winery, who doesn’t? This place was relaxed, totally unpretentious and we loved it! Great wine, and they even got a 2020 Travel Advisor Award!

Wallenpaupack Lake Trail: The main reason we wanted a fall getaway was to be outside! You can drive to the mountains and have a great trail (there are many) but we loved being near the lake and the foliage was beautiful!

If you are looking for a great getaway, definitely consider Hawley, and let me know if you go!
